“We were so grateful and jumped at the opportunity to give back in some way.”
Megan’s son, AJ, was diagnosed with a benign tumour and treated at the Queensland Children’s Hospital. Megan was blown away by the amazing staff, doctors and nurses and the beautiful donations they received. It all made AJ’s hospital stays, scans, and subsequent visits so much easier.
To show her appreciation, Megan signed up for 42k Your Way in 2022 and – thanks to her friends and family – she raised an incredible $2,951 for sick kids.
About Children’s Hospital Foundation
Children’s Hospital Foundation funds cutting-edge equipment, vital research and on the ground support for kids with all illnesses, injuries and conditions.
We identify and action gaps in funding and support right across the kids’ health landscape – the places left lacking but no less deserving.
Sometimes these gaps can appear small, filled by acts of kindness or compassion – a helping hand, a knowing smile, a place to play during a hospital stay.
Other times these gaps are large, bridged only by championing world-class care and treatment or breakthroughs in research and technology.
Every dollar you raise through taking part in 42k Your Way can be the difference every kid deserves.
Harley's story
Harley was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, one of the rarest and most severe heart defects. He had his first open-heart surgery at five days old and his second at 4 1⁄2 months old.
Thanks to the generosity of our supporter community, in addition to providing on the ground support to make time in hospital that little bit easier, the Children’s Hospital Foundation is helping to fund a vital program to minimise the long-term impacts of congenital heart disease and support kids like Harley to live their best lives.
Harley continues to meet all his milestones and is expected to undergo his third open-heart surgery before he is five. He still may require a heart transplant at some point in the future.
